Chungha: The Rising Star in South Korea’s K-Pop Scene

As one of the hottest up-and-coming stars in the South Korea’s K-Pop scene, Chungha, otherwise known as Kang Ji-hyun (강지현) is quickly making a name for herself in the competitive music industry. From start as a trainee in MeU Entertainment and her previous appearance on Mnet’s ‘Produce 101’, Chungha has proven herself to be a capable singer and performer, winning over fans with her distinctive husky voice and energetic performances.

Chungha released her first solo single “Why Don’t You Know” in 2017 and quickly became one of the most talked about newcomers of the year. Her second EP “Offset” was released in 2019 and peaked at number one on the Gaon Music Chart. From her playful bops and infectious hooks, to her emotional and heartfelt ballads, Chungha’s music is able to capture the attention of all age groups. Her powerful and captivating live performances have further solidified her place in the K-Pop charts.

Thanks to her hard work, Chungha has become one of the top-trending names in South Korea. 2019 saw her take home the Golden Disc Award and several Bonsang Awards from the Seoul Music Awards. As recently as 2020, she was awarded New Artist of the Year at the Asia Artist Awards. Aside from music, Chungha has also stayed busy taking part in various TV shows, including JTBC’s ‘Idol Room’, ‘Radio Star’ and ‘Weekly Idol’, showcasing her charm and drawing in even more fans. With the support of her label MANI Entertainment, Chungha’s popularity is set to soar even higher in the near future.
